Tonight was a very special night.. Roughly 2.5 years ago, I had the pleasure of shooting Carnival Diablo, and they had not returned since. For those of you who don't know what that is, Carnival Diablo is a semi local traveling sideshow, the only one around that I've heard of. For those who have always wanted to see classic acts such as the bed of nails, the blockhead, walking on glass, and more.. this was the show to go to.
The venue was smaller than usual, but I think it was perfect for them. It allowed them to reach a new audience that may not have heard of them before, the college crowd. Performing at the on campus pub, students quickly became curious of what was to happen. Banners and a curtain line the background, as miscellaneous props fill the rest of the stage. By the time the lights
dimmed and the eerie music filled the room, the room was packed. The crowd became silent
as Nikolai Diablo wandered on stage. For those who have not seen or met him, Nikolai is a showman in every sense of the word. From his creepy entrance to his witty banter, he is not an easy one to take your eyes off. The same can also be said about the human marvel, Ophelia.
Not wanting to spoil the show, I won't get into too much detail, but know that if you hear of Carnival Diablo coming to put on a show near you, that this is an event that you really need to experience. The audience remained captivated from the moment the troupe walked on stage.
Keep an eye on social media for these, and other images from the show to be posted throughout the month of October. Happy Hauntings ;)
