Wow! I don't even know where to start.. Today was crazy! Got to CityFolk at doors today, which was surprising, but hey, things had to go according to plan sooner or later. When I got there, I wander the grounds a bit.. There seemed to be a lot more people than any other day.. Makes sense I guess, it IS Friday, but it was still pretty early. I headed over to the Telus stage to check out Patrick Watson.
Patrick and his band put on a great set, at least from what I had seen of it. It was difficult to get photos of him behind the piano, but as a photographer for the event, you just gotta do what you can. There's something about the shot that I did get about him that I love tho.. I think it's partially because the big thing behind him (seriously.. what is that?) looks like a giant moon.. Pretty neat! After a few songs from him, I rushed over to the RavenLaw stage where Motel Raphael was playing.
The stage already had a decent sized crowd, so I pushed my way through it a little to arrive at the front. The band members all looked a lot younger than expected, but you shouldn't let that fool you, These ladies/gentlemen have talent! I actually ended up sticking around for most of their set before going back to the Telus stage to catch the end of Patrick Watson.
Next up was Amy Helm & The Handsome Strangers! Their set was a lot of fun, but I got more photos of the handsome strangers than I did of her. It was difficult getting shots of her from the pit that weren't unflattering up the nose pics... and I don't really think those shots are worth posting. lol
Elle King has an incredible voice, and seems like a pretty cool person.. It was great to get to see her perform, and meet her afterwards.
I'll end this all here.. All in all.. Today was an amazing day! I had so much fun, got to see so many talented musicians, great people, and I'm looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow for an even longer day. I fully expect Saturday to be nuts.. like.. Can't walk through the crowd without tripping over massive amounts of lawn chairs. After all, by the end of the night, that's kinda how it was.. WAY too many lawn chairs... Anyways.. Thank you all so much for following my work <3 I love you all so much, cause without you, I wouldn't get to do what I love most.. Tomorrow... Day 4!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
