Firstly, I have to say, as always, the Ottawa Geek Market is a must attend event! I always have the greatest time at these, and if you're curious about stuff like the Ottawa Comiccon, but don't want to blow $50 on a ticket just to check it out, this is why you need to come to the Geek Market lol
The Ottawa Geek Market is an event that will always be special to me, it's a more family friendly version of Comiccon, where you still have the amazing cosplayers, the vendors selling beautiful jewelry and other unique hand made items, and games, both video/board, as well as random things like Plinko and a scavenger hunt/trivia. The event is always well worth the admission price, it's extremely hard not to go every day.
This time around, I only had one complaint.. and that is that the event didn't start on Friday. I'm not positive, but I think usually the event is Friday to Sunday. Friday I tend to show up, snap photos of vendors and anything that catches my eye, and just enjoy the welcoming atmosphere that always surrounds this community event. This time, I had the same plan, but didn't think of this.. I showed up on a Saturday around 11am.. The place was packed.. Packed to the point where it was difficult to get pictures of cosplayers or vendors because there is always someone trying to pass by, and obviously you don't want to back up and hold everyone up every 2 seconds just to snap another shot.
I did my best to grab shots of various things that caught my eye around geek market, but I screwed up and a bunch of my photos are out of focus.. Still getting used to having to wear glasses and OMG I'm apparently blind without them.. My vision seems so much worse than ever before! lol
Some of the cooler things that I saw this Geek Market was definitely the Bahamut Dawn Creations booth (she has some amazing clothing, awesome keychains and poke plushes). Bombshell Revival, which is always one of my favorites <3 They have the most stunning vintage dresses, headpieces and accessories.. Seriously, these pieces are to die for! I swear I took pics of the headpieces but I have no idea what happened to those... I really enjoyed the Pin the beard on William Riker.. I'm not even a Star Trek fan but I thought that was super cute and enjoyable lol Oh oh! and the Glitch table, that had some incredible frames with 3D art in them from video games, sometimes displayed with a replica of an old school super nintendo cartidge.. Look through the pics.. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about lol
All around, the event was incredible.. I had a lot more fun Sunday, but that's cause there wasn't as many people and I kinda suck in crowds lol I got to see a lot of amazing people, incredible cosplays, and unique items that can only be found at events like this one. A HUGE congratulations to everyone who entered the costume contest.. I wish I could have seen (and took pictures) of everyones cosplay, but unfortunately I couldn't.. But hey.. Maybe one day I'll get to shoot an actual masquerade ;)
Big shout out to the winner of this years "Best in show" cosplay @uniquelycierra shown below because I totally stole her for some photos on Saturday lol Side note, today is her birthday! So go give her a follow and some birthday love for her amazing, and kind of ridiculous harpy cosplay (can you believe she hand crafted every one of those feathers individually?)
